Default spindle swap

i started to put the front end together 0n my 66 mustang have donor spindles from a 66 fairlane the tapers for the tie rods are a different size then stock mustang does anyone know if the 67 and up are larger and will work or does anyone know what i can use the fairlane ends seem to bind as the car is on a dolly now the angle seems extreme also the mustang have a curve in them and fairlane doesnt but are the same length or should i wait until the motor is in to finalize the front end any help would be great thanks and happy holidays

That phrase seems to bind troubles me. If you have ever owned a car where someone started swapping front suspension parts...Oh my gosh! Bump steer is just not worth it. You have to hang on to the car every single second.

The 65/66 MUST (8-cyl) and 66 F/L spindles are differing geometries.

This might be a stupid question but why aren't you using mustang spindles it's not like there's a shortage?

I may be wrong, but I do not think that you can use Fairlane spindles on the Mustang, I believe that they are completely different. If you do manage to get them on, I think your steering geometry will be way out of wack. some one here will correct me if I am wrong. I won't be the first time.

I think the OP came across a donor 66 F/L and is trying to use all he can from it. There was a discussion here earlier and told the 66 F/L FRT SUSP was different. I forgot what the final was on the spindles. Maybe his MUST is a 6-cyl?

BTW - There is no stupid question. Only repetitive questions due to answers not being recognized (if that makes sense).

yes it was a 6 and i did get the fairlane as a donor at this point i have the spindles installed ball joints were the same and i measured them against the stock 6 cyl spindles it looked the same except tie rod ends the fairlne tie rods would work i think as the angle they are on with no load on the front end they seem to be bottoming out on themself i guessing with the engine in that angle will change if i cant use them anyone have a need for the fairlane spindles thanks

Don't forget, the 6-cyl and 8-cyl 65/66 MUST FRT SUSP were different (heavier). If you are upgrading a 6 to 8 car, everything needs to be changed over.

The 66/69 FAIRLANE used the same FRT SUSP as the 67/68 MUST.

I did a similar type spindle swap on a '60 Ranchero. I used 67 Mustang spindles (which I believe are the same as Fairlane but I could be wrong). I used all Mustang tie rods and for the Falcon swap a '65 Falcon center link is needed. I used new upper control arms and ball joints, again for v8 Mustang.

The 66 and later Fairlane spindles fit, however, the steering arms are at a different angle than the 65-66 Mustang. It will work, but you will have a bump steer issue. If you intend to proceed with those spindles, take a look at some aftermarket tie rod ends, Baer Inc., is one of many

Seems to me that you would be better off getting some good used coerrct year Mustang V8 spindles. There must be a lot of those around seeing how many Mustangs were built.

From what I see, you are running into some serious geometry issues and parts mismatch issues.
