Default Valve Tool

I have to believe that “Back In The Day” Ford did not have a better tool than a crowbar to remove and install the valves. That just doesn’t make sense to me.

I don't know when it was invented but my Dad had a common "C" clamp over center lever type in the 20's.
I never used the pickle fork type except to get stuck guides out.

Thanks, now I gotta find one (I’m a tool junkie, if there’s a tool I have to have it).

I can understand having one of those bars in a wall collection as I have one whole wall in the shop covered with antique tools, but doing a flathead Ford valve job with one, I could never understand.
However, they do work great for prying vinyl siding off of an antique log cabin.

This Hydramek tool I have works great for really stubborn valves. A hydraulic Jack that fits underneath the valve .

Hey, I have the two red pieces of that kit! I knew what the top piece is but never knew the two went together as parts of a kit. There is nothing on them to identify them, they appear to made from bronze.
