Default A Victoria is to Ford...

What is this to Chevy?

It looks like a nice buggy but I think it's body is wood based.

You'd better believe it !!!

Dad's got a 1930 Chevy Special Sedan ( wire wheels, dual side-mounts ) that needs complete re-wooding....

GM / Fisher used major structural wood through '35-'36.

I have not seen that body style on a Chevrolet before.

My dad has one of those in a similar bodystyle in what is called a Landau Phaeton which competed against Ford's 400A Convertible Sedan. The biggest difference is the windows were metal framed like the Model A Cabriolet and the B Pillar posts (behind the door) fold down into the rear quarters making it a true convertible. Frank is correct as they were similar construction to the Vicky or the 400A.

Something to muddy up the waters a bit is a '32 Buick that was a wood-infrastructured Fisher body in which we replaced the wood with steel. It is more cost effective for the customer, and although not authentic it makes it more like a Slant-windshield Model A instead of the earlier wood-based Fordors. Below are some pictures... (Note how the Buick dwarfs the body setting beside it in the 2nd picture! )

The very reason why there are many more early Fords, on the road, than Chevrolets is the fact that Ford used more steel in the underbodies and Chevy used mostly wood.
Nuff said.

That Chevy IS a nice car as long as the wood is still good and not affected by dry rot. I had one in the past and it was a solid originally Southwestern car. The only real downside of the car was, that in spite of having 6 cylinders, it was the SLOOOWESSST car I've ever owned. My kids called it Turtle. Give me a peppy Model A any day!
