Okay......for the backstory.........I was told the car was bought new in New York and then the owner moved to California. The car had a California worlds fair 1939 tag in it. The owner lived in California for a bit then went back home to New York where he passed the car to his son. The son went into the military and the car was parked in a barn around 1955/56. The son of the owner was killed in action and of course never returned. The car then went to the great grandson who sold it last year and I bought it from that owner. The claim is that the car went into the barn in 55/56 and did not come out until last year when the great grandson of the original owner sold it. The claim is also that the 69 k miles on the odometer is original miles as they used the oil change sticker on the door post as proof. The car has 2 atlas tires,1 Firestone and 1 Goodyear tire that it is riding on and they look original. The spare is a standard brand tire. As for the wood it is amazingly in great condition. The side of the car that was on the side of the barn that got some weather did not fair so well as you can see from the pictures. The motor is stuck as well. All I know is that she is mine and I love it! As I make progress I will certainly update everyone,Ralph

Just to be an old fart...in future posts you might want to use a title a bit more specific than, " Have you seen" That doesn't help most folks find your post in the future or even right now, if they are looking for certain types of posts. Looks like your getting some good info anyway and keep asking questions!

That's almost half the fun of finding an old Model A that's been sitting for so long. You got a lot of neat stuff in there.

No doubt.....in the second photo there is a bag. In that bag is tire chains. Did that come with the model a? I found it under the back seat.

Tire chains did not come the the car, so something that the owner picked up, but nice that you have them!

Where are you located? Maybe a club member that is local can come and see the car. This could help you from making a damaging mistake. Nice car and I would not mess with the patina, it's impossible to create. Jack

That car will make a nice one for touring and cruises. Put her back to original Ford condition and it will serve you well.

I know where Calhoun is. We should get together, in person and on the phone.

I can help you get the engine unstuck without damaging it. I agree with the others to try to maintain the current patina, if at all possible. You can rebuild the internals of things, as needed, to make the car safe and reliable without ruining the current original outward appearance.

There are things you will want to do with the car before starting and driving it for the first time, to avoid damage to the drive train.

You also need to order some basic Model A books to guide you. These cars are simple to work on, but you can save yourself a lot of aggravation if you have a good book to follow.
