What is this horn from
hello. I'm new to this forum. I found this old horn in a customer's shed. She thinks it's from a Model T. I have it listed on e-bay but really don't know what it's worth. I'm thinking that I might keep it & look for a Model T to restore & put it on. Any ideas?

Re: What is this horn from
This horn is from INDIA. There were thousands of them imported in the 1960s & sold all over North America. They are not close to any automobile horn I have ever seen & they really scream "I have no idea what I am doing!!" when they are mounted on a car.
I have half a dozen of them that I have used the reed in other horns. There are usually several of them on eBay at various prices. The real value of one of these is the weight multiplied by the current scrap brass price. I am sorry to be less than supportive on your horn BUT do not let that stop you from getting a model T Ford -- you will never regret it ---- just please do not put that Indian horn on it!! |

Re: What is this horn from
Jack, I agree, seen one of these sell at a local auction 6 years ago. Was really suprised what the missinformed public thought it was worth. I just laughed to myself and watched. The auctioneer, who knows I buy alot of old car parts was looking at me waiting for me to bid, but when he saw the look on my face when this was over $50, he stopped looking. Beleive some fool paid $175 for it if memory serves me correctly. Rod

Re: What is this horn from
Gotta love Forums. Car restoration is just a dream to me now But I really love these forums because if you want no nonsense answers this is where you'll get them. I got this horn from a customer & I think I'll mount it on the entrance to my shop. I would never want someone to buy crappy stuff from me. Thanks,,,you never know,,, I may still look into a Model T.
Thanks |

cueboy, Welcome to the Ford Barn Forum, lots of great people here, you'll learn a lot just reading through the threads on different topics. Getting a good starter T project will set you back around $5,000. Great cars and just about every part is available in reproduction form.

Re: What is this horn from
You can get 'em direct from Mid-East
http://www.mid-east.com/items.asp?Tp...me=Bulb%20Horn Taxi style or double barrel. The ones shown in the pics are polished, when you buy them you get tarnished ones from the long boat ride to the states. |
