Re: '41 4cyl P/U question
what you have is a 6 cylinder cross member for a 1941 1/2 ton pick up. I have owned 2- 1941 4 cylinder pick ups and they use the regular cross member. this cross member came about with the us army request for 6 cylinder engines. after about midyear 1941 they all had the dropped cross member in the big trucks, probably about the same in pick ups

Re: '41 4cyl P/U question
Thanks, I had a feeling that it wasn't, but wanted to make sure. I got it with a cache of '40-'41 pickup parts I bought and didn't have much trust in the sellers word.

Re: '41 4cyl P/U question
It is not 41 pickup, 6 or 8 cylinder. I don't think it is 41 pickup at all. It looks to be a bolt in on a frame that has boxed front rails. Note the upper flanges sticking out. As far as I can tell, that would not fit either of my 41 pickups.
Can't say what it is, but can say what it isn't. You're not doing yourself any favours by posting the pictures in a very difficult to see orientation. |

Re: '41 4cyl P/U question
The early 1941 pickups continued with the frame used the year before. The new crossmember came in the mid year production for the new G-series 226 that was introduced for 1941. The 1941 cars had a different frame that was designed to use either V8 or the G6. The commercial 1/2 ton had to be modified to use either engine so it took a while longer for their production.
The 9N engine use was introduced early but sales were dismal at best so it was likely discontinued before the 6-cylinder change but I have no info to confirm that. |

Regarding that "mystery" Ford Pick-up Front Cross Member, these smaller pictures might help in correctly identifying it. |

Re: '41 4cyl P/U question
Thanks for the info fellas. Sorry about the orientation Mart, I was having enough difficulty posting with this phone anyway. Thanks for the repost Mercman. I knew it didn't look anything like the one in my '41 V8 half-ton. I was just going off what the fella who sold me the parts said it was, that's why I asked here. Best place I've found to get reliable info. It wasn't why I bought the parts, and since it's probably not anything anyone else would need, it's probably heading to the smelter.
