Default Throwback Thursday-THe one that got away!!!

I know its Monday but gonna start a new weekly post here and you must post a picture...SO I figured I'd start it today to give you guys a head start in digging out your old photo's OR to scan them as you run across them in an old drawer, book or photo album. This is a 39 Merc, Minus engine and trans, my dad bought in 1971 and the bill of sale which I think he paid too much for!!! What do you think??? Any interesting story attached to the car is certainly a bonus!! IF you have "more" than one (hopefully) don't blow them all at one time, save them so each week we can start a new one!!!

Paid $100 for this one in 1970. Should have kept it.

I don’t have a picture, but I missed out on a 51 Tudor , six cyl flathead, running condition in 1975,
I believe the price was $500.
Ended up buying a 55 instead.

OK, Rock, you have to show this to your Dad. I got to the sale before him ... he's been pissed for years, since 1972. One of the dumbest things I ever did with cars was to let it get away.

Hoop, believe me I’ve heard that story for 48 years. Hope you and the “Mrs” are good? Hopefully you can come over and see the returned addition. I need a copy of that photo if I could. Thanks for sharing that one too!!!

Hoop, that looks exactly like the one my dad had when I was growing up. When the 7th kid came alone, he traded his in 1962 for a 1958 Merc wagon in Central Ohio. Don't know why, the Merc had fewer seats and it really liked its gas, less than 10 mpg in town.
