Looks like it might be a Gross Jet set up. I used one on my stock 53 Ford V-8 2 barrel carb and it worked great. Very dependable.

I've had one that worked out well and one that didn't. That's a 50% chance of failure where I come from. I have owned probably 75-100 contraptions in my life with a tapered needle and seat and my favorite were with the viton tipped needle. That may have been before ethanol. I never had problems with either brass/steel needles or viton tipped ones unless I was lazy or disinterested and let the contraption sit for a year or two with stale gas in the tank. Offered two otherwise identical carb kits I'd take the one with the old school needle and seat.

Oddly enough (to me anyway) they each CLOSED off the supply of fuel.
