1950 vs 1952 oil pan
I had to change oil pans so I could install an E-Z Steer on my 50 ford .. This required me to remove the 52 pan and install the 50 oil pan with 3 robs on the side . Now I'm getting a knock from the engine . gets Louder when clutch peddle is engaged .Any Ideas

Re: 1950 vs 1952 oil pan
The '49-'51 Ford pans are smooth sided, while the '52-'53 F/M pans have 3 ribbed sides, so I think you meant you replaced your '50 pan for a later '52-'53, correct?
As for the knock, I can't think of a reason changing pans should cause this. Does the new pan completely clear the cross member and steering? |

Re: 1950 vs 1952 oil pan
I've had my ring gear get cocked on the flywheel, one side of it was hitting the back of the block, got louder as I pushed in the clutch.

As suggested, check that ring gear. Sometimes as they get older they can be knocked or nudged out of alignment with the flywheel when the starter is removed or replaced. You can tap it back into place pretty easily after yo pull the pan and starter plate. Mine did that a couple of times and when I went in to change out the clutch/PP I replaced it with a new ring gear. Keep us posted. Chap |

Re: 1950 vs 1952 oil pan
Check crankshaft endplay. if it's excessive, pushing in the clutch may let the flywheel hit the pan, which may have different dimensions than the old pan. Just push in and pull out on the front pulley.
