Default Original Grease Gun Repairs

Does anyone know where I can buy a repair kit for my original Model A grease gun. The plunger is worn and does not function as it should. Thanks

Do you have the cork plunger or leather plunger?

Make sure you keep it well greased.

I have several grease guns. The plunger on all of them is a metal disc with a leather ring. Does it make a difference whether it’s cork or leather? Are the leather and cork rings interchangeable?

Most seem to be leather but I have seen cork plunger. The leather is a “gasket” between metal, the cork is a tapered plug type plunger maybe an inch or so thick.

Did you take the end apart to see if the check valve (ball bearing and spring) are intact and functional? The plunger merely acts as a follower to keep the grease moving toward the business end.

When I attempt to use it, the grease mostly slips around the plunger while a tiny bit appears at the nozzle. I am pretty sure it is the plunger. Have not had a chance to check yet but if it is leather it might be an easy fix.
