Can anyone tell me how the gasket is installed on the v8 the gasket that goes on the intake fuel pump theres the fuel pump rod and the sleeve that keeps the pump rod in place i know this sounds confusing does the gasket go on the intake first and the sleeve sits on top of gasket thanks paul

Gasket goes on the intake first, the lip on the pump push rod fits in the groove in the bottom of the pump stand. I almost did it wrong when I replaced my intake.

Make sure the gasket is the correct thickness this effects the stroke of the pump which changes the pressure. G.M.

Pump pressure is determined by the spring below the diaphragm, is it not? ..B.

Yes but the stroke also effects the pressure. I made an adjustable push rod and it didn't take much of a change in length to change the pressure. G.M.

But changing the length of the pushrod doesn't really change the length of the stroke if the cam is still moving the rod .200 ? ..B.

The fuel pump arm has only a short sweet operating spot for pumping its fuel. If your push rod is too short as to not operate in that sweet spot, then fuel will not be pumped as well, if not at all. Too long of a fuel pump rod can damage a fuel pump. Fuel pump rods wear shorter as the miles are put on them. It has often been my experience to get the fuel pump to correctly pump enough fuel that I had to braise a little on the end of the fuel pump rod to bring the rod back to the correct length again.

A warn rocker arm assembly has a lot of slop and don't start to pump until all the slop is out. So you don't get the full .200 motion in the pump. G.M.
