Re: Fuel pump gasket
Gasket goes on the intake first, the lip on the pump push rod fits in the groove in the bottom of the pump stand. I almost did it wrong when I replaced my intake.

Re: Fuel pump gasket
Pump pressure is determined by the spring below the diaphragm, is it not? ..B.

Re: Fuel pump gasket
Yes but the stroke also effects the pressure. I made an adjustable push rod and it didn't take much of a change in length to change the pressure. G.M.

Re: Fuel pump gasket
But changing the length of the pushrod doesn't really change the length of the stroke if the cam is still moving the rod .200 ? ..B.

Re: Fuel pump gasket
The fuel pump arm has only a short sweet operating spot for pumping its fuel. If your push rod is too short as to not operate in that sweet spot, then fuel will not be pumped as well, if not at all. Too long of a fuel pump rod can damage a fuel pump. Fuel pump rods wear shorter as the miles are put on them. It has often been my experience to get the fuel pump to correctly pump enough fuel that I had to braise a little on the end of the fuel pump rod to bring the rod back to the correct length again.

Re: Fuel pump gasket
A warn rocker arm assembly has a lot of slop and don't start to pump until all the slop is out. So you don't get the full .200 motion in the pump. G.M.
