In a MARC News issue from 1965, there's a letter to the editor from someone insisting that those bolts must have been slotted originally, because of how hard it is to get a socket on them. Some things never change.

I copied what I saw when I was under a friend's 1928 Chev. If it worked for one, it'd work for the other.
