Re: Diamond block

Re: Diamond block
The diamond block from what ive heard was a reproduced model a block made in the middle to late 30's. I beleive they came with B & C insides, such as counterbalanced and the cam. I could be wrong, but this is what ive been told. They deffinetly arent any mean bad. They are a unique idem to own. But would i pay a lot of extra money for one, no. possibly 100-150 more just to be able to say i have one. And yes i do have one.

I was just informed by an expert (seemingly on all things ford..Mr. Lancaster) that diamond was a later 30s replacement block...with hardened valve seats. Although some engine experts here will tell you that you do not need hardened seats in an A/B block('not necessary'), I'd have the diamond with the hardened seats given the choice. Rick |

Re: Diamond block
Some I have found have incerted seats. The seats themselves were not hardened on those. Most, unless the victom of being ran too lean still have the seatc cut into the block as stock. I would imagine that the industrial engines on the Gleaner combines were ran abit leaner to save money during hard times. Rod

Re: Diamond block
I have a B Diamond, and its a very strong runner. Had a Plane B Crank when I got it but its running a Counter Balanced/ Drilled now. I can't tell any difference between it and a Plane B but there must be if it was marked as such. Iceman
