Tudor.Just had Bubba,s build me a simpler to install crab style resistor as I fryed the points on the old helmut style.I understand thier is a resistor i need.Everything is stock, and it was starting and running fine for awhile on the old setup, but I,am told that I may have bipassed the needed resistor.Where is that exactly and where can I get another?Really appreciate your help!!!!Jon

Most years under the dash area...'33-46 on firewall area next to fuse or breaker, '32 on tunnel stampings, '47-8 atop coil. Yours would be on firewall inside near the hole where big wiring harness comes through. Measure voltage at coil terminal when running and warm should be around 4, if 6-7 resistor isn't in the circuit. Reistors /32-48 are interchangeable. NAPA ICR-40, Standard FD-220, do not know if still available, go to early Ford parts places if not. Joblot automotive.

Here it is on a 39 pickup or panel. The resistor is on the left

You can click on the paper clip above and then browse your computer till you find the pic you want and attach it. Or in this case. I had already posted that picture on picturetrail and I just went there and copied the forum link to it. and posted that link in the text.

I was in my local NAPA store late last week looking for a later model ignition resistor. Their catalog still shows the older style ignition resistor as being available. Appeared to be an exact replacement for the stock one for a '46. FWIW
