Alternator installation
I just installed a new 6volt positive ground alternator from Nurex in my Model A speedster. Fan is 4 blade truck fan. Water pump is new leakless type. After installing the alternator there is a noise that was not there with the generator. It is a ticking noise that seems to come from the area of the fan. The belt appears to be running true with no noticeable wobble although I don't know how I would check it accurately. The fan is not touching anything that I can see. The alternator appears to be working according to the ammeter. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks. Howie

Is the belt tension different from before?

Re: Alternator installation
This is a case where a tool that most guy's don't have is invaluable. A variable speed strobe light. If you can borrow or get one you will be able to 'see' what part seems to stand still at the clicking speed. The alt pulley &fan, the belt, the water pump pulley, all have a different time base. Just be careful. Things will look like they are not moving, but they are!
