Default nice driver 180 currently on BAT

I am guessing this is going to sell for around 22k.

any other speculators? this came from south America, as many of them did.

Not a bad looking car.

Why not post a link to it? Or if you did, it is not showing.

Nice to know the car's air conditioner (!) is actually an "aftermarket" !!!!
Those originals are getting hard to find, and even harder to restore...

The AC is nice, although I would question its use on an open car. Seems like lots of phaetons were shipped to Argentina. Some were pretty tired by the time they made the trip back to the states.

Prices seem to be fairly high on Bring a Trailer for Model A's recently, especially open and unique cars with special features. I will place a bet at $35K. Buyers there are bidding high and not too savvy.

I agree with you on 90% of the cars listed, but the A's seem to be slow over there.
about a yr and a half ago, 2 a 400s were given away. at least as I see it.

if youre correct, it would be good for all of us and the hobby in general.

$40,500 to be exact. More than I had guessed by $5,000. Open car with accessories. In good shape but probably had a hard life before it got rejuvenated.

More normal cars have sold for $12,000 to $20,000 range in the last few months.

I would say being a tudor phaeton, that car will be restored. My assumption is the A/C and other accessories will come off. Otherwise, Model A's, be it on BAT auction or other places, don't command a lot of money these days. Unless they are a more scarce model like this phaeton.

I tend to think the A/C drove the price up. The buyer may have been one of the newer classic car guys who likes modern conveniences in old cars. And like all auctions the price goes up when the top goes down. Being almost "auction red" color didn't hurt either.

I'm not very smart. How does a/c work in an open car? I'm imagining driving down the road in a convertible during the summer with the top down and the a/c on. Not exaclty getting chills.

no Wayne, you can set a reserve. BAT will say "sold for" or "bid to". at the end.

you are right Seth, it is a bit silly, but I guess if its 110 in TX, it might help a little. then of course, you could always install the side curtains, which came with

The guy who sells the AC system says that it has to blow on your face to do any good. It does not cool off the entire car. I thought I could put it under the seat, but no dice. It takes up a lot of room under the tank. An option would be to put another tank at the rear and gut the cowl tank, putting the AC there.
