Default motorcraft sparkplus

Anyone have a problem with motorcraft sparkplugs? I haven't been driving my cars a lot and have been starting them weekly and letting them run about 20 minutes. After I do this 4 or 5 times the motorcraft sparkplugs become so fouled that the car won't start . MY cars do not burn oil and the carbs are adjusted properly. It seems like a lot of times even after cleaning the old fouled plugs the cars won't start until I put in new plugs. Ideas?

Are you driving the cars or do they just idle for 20 minutes? Our old cars like to be driven and brought up to proper operating temperature.

Or maybe you need a hotter plug? I'm not familiar with Motorcraft plugs. I use Champion 3X.

Use a hotter plug or 3X as mentioned..
When just running the car like you are I like to keep the idle up to about 800 rpm, it keeps it cleaned out and charges the battery better...

We run the Motorcraft TT10's from your Ford Parts counter and yes they are a cold plug. I get some carbon sooting but not enough to notice in the engine's performance. I just wire brush them off now and then.

The Champions are good too I guess, but had one go sour on the '28 Roadster once (looked OK but wouldn't fire) and I replaced all four with Motorcraft.

You can get good and bad in anything,,, I reckon'

I use TT10's in my 31 & they burn clean, short or long duration , but always up to temp . This is w/ the carb leaned out via the choke rod except for starting one turn to rich from lean adjust .

If your engine is set up well, most any BRAND plugs will work well, IF they're the correct heat range. There are NO "MAGIC" spark plugs------

You are absolutely correct Bill. I have 3X plugs in my A's but it is mostly for show. 3X feeds the ego more than anything. The other plugs work just fine. Wayne
