A 1989 T5 should be NWC.

What are you contemplating doing? Mucho interested!! DD

Your gear ratios:

1352-193 GM 1989 S-Truck 2.5L L4 Only 3.76 4.03 2.37 1.49 1.00 0.86

This page is useful for ID'ing T5's: http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/Bo...T5-ID-Tags.htm

It confirms yours is not WC.

ROSS .....What did I miss? Using that British "Numbers ID" site, I'm curious how you determined that his trans is "NWC" (Non World Class)? DD

I have sold 100's of rebuilt 85-92 S10 2 wheel drive transmissions to go behind a Flathead with no problems.

I must agree....there is not a thing wrong with a NWC T5. In fact, I advocate using NWC "V8" Camaro T5s for the GEAR RATIOs that they use, much nicer than that 3.76 or 4.03 ist gear that comes in the S-10 boxes. IN FACT, those ridiculous 1st gear ratios are most of the reason for lower torque ratings.

I was just curious how ROSS derived NWC from that British spec sheet. DD

For the S-10 rear housing AND the SHORT-SHAFT lid, that's almost a steal anymore. The "S-10" REAR housings are beginning to get scarce. Plus, they will both bolt-on to ANY T5 transmission main case. Click the link BELOW! DD

Coopman, the “Vehicle Application” line on the ID page has “WC” noted for world class transmissions. Any without WC in the description are thereby assumed non world class. I believe that how Ross determined it was Non-WC.

Hey "BURGLAR".....Of the many hundreds of times that I have looked at that site, I can't believe that I never noticed all of those "WC" notes. Damn, I can't understand how I missed that! Thank you for setting me straight! DD

Tinker, I am on the H.A.M.B. as well. Same name. There may be another burglar with a slight spelling difference. Not sure. I tend to lurk more than post, so might well have been someone else. Momma always said it was better to keep your mouth shut and look stupid…….
