Question Rust Penatrant

A month ago in my edition of Hemmings "Classic Car" there was an article testing many different stuck thread rust penatrants (i.e. WD-40). The best test performance was found to be a 50% mixture of transmission fluid and 50% of something else that is commonly found in auto parts stores. I discarded my magazine copy and don't remember what the mixture was. Did anybody read that article or remember what to mix 50% with transmission fluid? Of 10 penatrants tested, WD-40 I think was 5th.

I believe it was acetone, but I am not 100% sure.

50/50 mix of ATF and acetone. I have a bunch of parts soaking right now. I just buy an empty paint can from the hardware store and keep in that, as well as soaking the parts.

PB Blaster has always worked for me, though I've read tests that claim Kroil is better.

I use the ATF/Acetone in an old brake fluid bottle with a gear oil pour bottle top and cap. Shake and go!! Best with a warmed up part. my 2¢

I recently got to try out the method of heating and then holding a candle on the bolt and letting the wax wick into the nut. It worked really good on the clutch adjusting trunnion.
