Default Wood Block Question 31 CCP

Hi All,
With the wood blocks installed for a 31 CCP roughly how much of a gap is there from the bottom of the cab to the top of frame. The gap with the wood block installed is between for me is 3/4” to 1” roughly. Seems like that is too much and does not look right. Do you have to sand down the blocks to make the cab sit flush on the rails?

Thank you,
Denny

I just went into the garage and had a look at my full fendered '29 CCPU. It looks like w/o splash aprons 1" or so (maybe slightly less) might be normal, but since mine has splash aprons, it seems less and isn't noticeable. Sanding or otherwise altering the blocks will affect how the body fits your frame and may adversely affect the fit of the doors, etc. The blocks should fit snugly into the body sills. Are you building a fenderless high boy?

Building full fendered pickup with aprons. I would expect 1/4” to 1/2” gap. But not 1”.

Not sure what to tell you. I assume that you bought the blocks from a reputable dealer and have a diagram showing where they go, and that you have the proper blocks at the proper locations. And they fit snugly into the body sills and aren't cross ways from the sills. And your frame isn't bent. If you have Volume 4 of the "How to Restore Your Model A" then it has a comprehensive review of issues on the frame to body fit and it might help to review that. If you have it. Ned

I thought the same thing when I did my ‘30. Double checked the block fit into the body subframe and adjusted with pads for fit and door closure. Turned out fine.
