roof replacement
Next project on my '30 fordor is replacing the roof material. There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on what materials to use and where they go.
My questions are: Should there be a fabric layer between the ribs and the chicken wire? If so, what fabric? Should there be a fabric layer between the chicken wire and the padding? If so, what farbric? What is the best sealant to use around the edges of the vinyl and on tack heads? I understand there is a good video covering this install on "abarnyard" but cannot seem to access it. Suggestions on how to access OR on another video option? Input appreciated. |

Re: roof replacement
Quote:
A: No fabric is necessary between the ribs and the wire. You can use friction tape in this area if you like. B: A heavy Duck Muslin cloth. I typically use 10 oz. This is just to support the Cotton padding. C: Any rubberized Seam Sealer (available at automotive body shop supply stores) is good. It is typically frowned upon to use Silicone as it sometimes promotes rusting of the sheetmetal. D: I never knew that Marco had any videos on his website. . . |

Re: roof replacement
A shameless plug for my club But the Diablo A's put out a video on how to do a top on a 31 slant which you can buy through MAFCA, vendors or download on our website.

Re: roof replacement
Indeed, Marco had the best tutorial I have ever seen.
