Default V8 Trans in Model A

I am just finishing up installing a V8 trans in my 28 Tudor an hope someone out there can solve a last minute problem for me, installing the 28/29 stop light switch on the transmission.

The larger V8 trans leaves very little room to install the stock switch. Does any one have a solution for mounting it, if not maybe an alternate switch?

Thanks

Howdy Mate, good to hear from you, hows things, you and Jeanie firing on all cylinders.
I use a hella brake light switch on my A,just mount a small bracket off the frame or gearbox top and connect it to the brake pull rod by a spring.
let me know if you want a pic,but you may have to turn it over as mine is upside down here.

I really don't understand changing to a later transmission. My transmission has been working faithfully for 88 years. I have no problem driving it. Smooth shifting and good gear ratios.

Lawrie,

You have a hell of a stop light switch? Yes, I would like a picture of it. Yes, I will turn it upside down like the Aussy flag you gave me is hanging upside down in my garage.

Chris,

I have driven all my model As with stock transmissions for over 50 years now. They are fine but I can't agree with you that they have good gear ratios.

The 28 Tudor has been driven, by me, in 49 states. It's driving to the last one, Alaska, this year, with a V8 trans.

There are a few newer upgraded synchro transmissions with nicer ratios that bolt up to the the old girl ... just need to drop a bit of cash .. see Snyder’s

Richard, on my '30 tudor I turned the switch 180 degrees and wrapped a small wire-rope around the pedal-arm so it pulled the switch to the off position. This puts the switch behind the crossmember and out of the way.

I have used an after market brake light switch for an old mechanical brake Harley Davidson.
Easy to mount. It also uses a spring to pull the switch. Google Drag Specialties they carry them. They are also on eBay.

I didn't know that you could only answers questions without trying to understand why something is being done.

I made a flat sheet metal bracket to hold the 28-29 stop light switch to adapt to the V8 transmission cover.

Thanks guys. I needed that.

Doug, I'm aware of others It's the $$$

Jim, Thanks. I'm not quite picturing that yet but will try to figure it out. Doesn't the 30 have the brake switch on the back of the cross member already? I may just have to come out there and take a look for myself.

Dodge, thanks. I'll check it out. Never thought I would have a "Hog" switch on my A

Chris, you can certainly comment any way you want. To understand why I am doing it?
Different strokes for different folks.

Lawrie. That is beautiful. Do you have a part number?

Briphaeton. I don't seem to have enough room. Do you have a picture of yours?

Thanks again. I never answered more than one at a time. This is fun.
