Default 1939 Ford

I have a 1939 deluxe convertible coupe.
Body # 73
With a production run of just over 10000 this would indicate it was made during the first week.
Anyone have one that's earlier ?
Chris.NZ.

The body number should be on a tag on the firewall. I have a '39 Ford Deluxe Convertible Sedan, body number 1507 out of 3,561 built.

Checked mine tonight. If the embossed (raised) numbers are all that are there on the tag and not any numbers stamped or etched past those, mine is #19. The reason I wasn't sure is my firewall was painted red a couple times years and years ago, tag and all.

Sounds about right.
Yours was made on Monday and mine on Wednesday. LOL.
I also have a factory RHD one - assembled in the USA then shipped to South America.
Came out here to NZ 18 years ago.
There are 3 RHD ones that I know of here in NZ.
The Australian ones are way different - they have a short 37/38 rear.
Regards,
Chris.NZ.

It sounds like you have a pretty rare piece there. I only know the history of my car back to 1960, not sure beyond there. RonO
