Default Motor/Motor Magazine (1940s)

A friend (out of state) wrote me that she had come across ‘about 50’ copies of a magazine called “Motor” (or possibly ‘Motor Magazine’) dated during the 1940s in her late father’s closet. Apparently these have very nice lithographed front covers. Since I know nothing of this magazine I’m asking folks here if these have any intrinsic worth to other than the fellow’s family.

Charles,

Below is a photo of one that I had laying on my desk, and I believe that its the same publication. These things seem to bring decent money on eBay when they show up so yes, they do have value and your friend would probably be wise not to throw them away! For what its worth, they are full of vintage ads and other information so you might want to grab a copy or two to read. They're very interesting!

I have a number of issues from the Model A era. They came from flea markets for under $5. Interesting reading and ads. Favorite article of mine from 1930 projects the total market for automobiles to be the number of garage spaces. The assumption being no one would buy a car without winter storage and once you own one you would never need another. This prediction may have been slightly off.
