Default Borg R10 Overdrive - Intermittent Slip

Hoping ya'll can help point me in the right direction. I've been pulling my hair out chasing an intermittent slip in my overdrive. Most everything is new or NOS, so I suspect something is off in the rollers or cage. Maybe even tailhousing ID?
-I've been driving it pulling the lockout cable at every stoplight and pushing it in once at speed, but I want my otherwise perfectly restored car to operate as original.
-The O/D system is fully functional electrically. Works as intended 80% of the time. But every once in a while, with the cable left pushed in, when I take off from a stop, the overdrive slips and it's like I've let the clutch out in neutral. I can push the clutch in and pull the lockout cable and takeoff normally, pushing the cable back in once moving to use O/D normally.
-Happens sometimes going into second even - I'll take off fine, then zing into second like it's in neutral.
-Every once in a great while, the situation is worse; it'll grab and I'll start to take off normally, then it'll let loose and slip and I've gotta pull the lockout again. This one usually has a pretty good bang from the instant driveline unloading..
-Electrical is perfect. I hear the solenoid click exactly when it should, and the system otherwise functions perfectly. It free-wheels, as long as the solenoid is not engaged (at lower veh speeds) and the lockout cable is not pulled out.
-Reverse is always normal (internal lockout, equivalent to pulling cable)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why are you pulling out the lockout cable at stoplights?

Only when it slips. This is the impetus for my post..
If I don't pull it out, the car don't move. (occasionally, not every time)
Good way to piss off a dozen or so folks at a stop light is not to take off asap when the light turns green because the overdrive isn't working and your car won't move under it's own power.

I would check the cable adjustment, adjust per the factory service manual. for a start. fairly easy to do.

The book calls out to use a rubber band to hold the sprag rollers at assembly. Sometimes the rubber band fouls the rollers after it deteriorates. The sprag race may be worn. The rollers wear too over time. Slippage isn't common but it can happen.

An out of round cage that holds the rollers can cause your symptoms. I was warned in the distant past that a hard launch with the OD handle pushed in could distort the cage. I think you will have to pull the tail housing and inspect the rollers, cage, and the cam that pushes the rollers out. Just my opinion.
