Default What would you do????

This tudor was restored many years ago. This car has the typical rust problem in the right lower cowl section, it had rotted out. I cut out the rot and this is what I saw. I will blast the inner panel and prime. Now this is my question, what about the other side. The left side lower cowl panel shows no sign of rust. You and I know that rust is in there just like the right side. Should I leave it alone or what. No way to inspect and or treat the rust unless you remove sheet metal.

what are you going to do with the car? sell or keep? unless the other side has been repaired I bet the same rust problems are there also, if you plan on keeping the car check the other side, if your going to sell it just leave it alone

If you are going to paint the whole car, open it and fix it. As you said, "typical location". If you are just going to paint over the repaired area, cowl, and it has not effected the other side, I'd leave it.

If you sand blast it from the outside and see nothing , I think you will be ok . Clean up all you can on the inside (high pressure air to remove all dirt ETC) . If it is thin ,and you sand blast ( glass beads preferably ) something should appear . Just my two cents .
