Guys, i stoped at vintage ford truck parts store today, To pickup a few parts, i stoped there last year when i had my first p.o.s rusted 48 F1, the owner of the store asked if i still had my F1, i told him i sold it, and got a cleaner 50, i showed him photo, told him it was pretty much rust free, i told him i was keeping it 100 % original the way i found it, He said why would you keep it that way, it going look like a damn rat rod, and the paint wasnt original and kept picking out things that arnt rigth with my truck, so is me keeping it the way i found it rat rod ? Im keeping the 226 and three speed trans, I just wonder if hes upset that i have the truck and not him, ive ran into a few guys like that so far...

Have it the way you want it, it's your truck. I would think twice about buying parts from someone so opinionated.
A rat rod is something someone has cobbed together out of different cars.

Yeah man, in my opinion the term "rat rod" is way overused by people
who don't know what the hell they're talking about. Im with jeff, a rat rod is something stuck together from just whatever parts are lying around. drive the heck out of it!

Yeah he ain't the only dealer in ford truck parts. Might be closer but not wiser. Fins another supplier. Some day when you are feelin nasty take him a picture of one. I mean one he can see without squinting.

Some people just can't stand it when someone has a car or truck that is not the way they would have it if it were theirs. Just because he would do it his way does not make it right for anyone else. Your truck, it fits your style, forget him and his opinion.

People tell me I should restore my panel because it looks so bad and some tell me I should hot rod or rat it but I like it the way it is just fine. Keep going the way you want to, the truck will be just fine.

Guys, thanks for the feed back, Im going to keep it the way i found it, i just dont get where he gets off telling me because i keep my truck the way it is, im making it into a rat rod, i could have spent a few more bucks then did, but walked out with only a $5.00 part lol... You would think he would be encouraging me and not put my truck down, we younger guys are few and far between who work and enjoy old trucks and cars...

Something we all have run into at one time or another are individuals that are anxious to tell us "what is wrong" with our car. The best way I have found to deal with these clowns is to listen patiently and then when they are finished, I respond with, "Maybe you have a point. Where is your car I would like to see it?" That usually ends the conversation.

I know the fellow that Cody's talkin about.. This guy owns a small parts supply house for Ford trucks. He should have the knowledge of Fords if he's selling new parts, but he doesn't. Cody keep it the way you want it and drive the heck out of it.
