91A-8600 Radiator fan
I have saved 2 of these NOS crankshaft mounted fans and finally got both at the same location. One has a longer hub than the other. Any one know why? Car/truck or 60HP ?
Thanks Keith |

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
I believe Merc is longer than the ford due to the longer front end.

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
My original Ford parts catalogs give both 1939 Deluxe Fords and 1939 Mercury the same part number for the fan.
91A-8600. The description for both reads " 16 3/4" - 6 blade " It also states they both share the same crankshaft pulley and hub assembly. PN 91A-6312. |

"19A-" equates to '41 Mercury. DD

The longer hub is for the 1941 Mercury and is a 19A-8600 part. The 91A-8600 fan is used on the 39 and 40 Mercury and the 39 Deluxe, all 85 HP 1940 model cars and pickup and all V8 model 1941 Ford cars and pickup. 40larry |

I still want to know the hub lengths if possible. Like Mac I'm always wanting more knowledge for myself and here.

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
Thanks for all of the input. My short 91a-8600 measures 3 5/8 to 3 3/4"
The long 19A-8600 measures 4 1/2 to 4 5/8". Both are 6 blade with alternating long and short blades Keith |

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
I have a known 19A fan, will measure it tomorrow. How are you measuring it, from the mounting surface to the backside of the fan blades?

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
That’s how I measure them......in effect, the full length of the actual hub itself.

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
Mac VP I get 3" exactly on the 91A --- 3 5/8" on the 19A . I hooked a tape on the flare at the base where the blades mount and measured to the mounting flange (not the part that indexes into the crank pulley) These are new, out of the FoMoCo box.

One American Road Dearborn, MI 48126. The USPTO has given the FoMoCo trademark serial number of 71569147. So, even though it is NEW, and it is a legitimate Ford piece, it should be considered a "replacement part" manufactured no earlier than '49, and MAY not necessarily replicate the original fan PRECISELY! Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
The one I got for my 39 deluxe has a second layer of metal on the blades where the rivets are. Most others I've seen don't have this. It has a 3" hub.

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
Dick, correct. My 91A box is Ford, not FoMoCo but the 19A was.

And, as a side note of sorts, just because Drake and others list a part as correct and / or fits years "X through X" does not necessarily a correct part make. The parts books are good for one thing: indicating parts that were offered for SERVICE that will fit and function. As for being correct? Yeah, maybe. And then again, maybe not.

I measured the hub on my '41 Merc Town Sedan and it is also 3 5/8" as above. Puts the front edges of the six blade fan approx 7/8" from the radiator core. Terry
