Re: Insurance policy w/o liability?
I dont see where actual cost of parts to labor is relevant to insurance cost/value on an agreed value policy. My experience with Grundy is, I told the amount I wanted, sent them the required pics of the car and they agreed. Had no bearing on the cost of the parts that were installed. I am sure if I was out of line they would have said so, and if I were in the next higher bracket they may have sent an adjuster to check in person.
As far as reimbursement for work done being paid by the insurance co. I can understand. In my case with the fire, I had a lot of car parts stored in my 'commercial building'. My personal insurance had no problem with replacement even though all of the parts were used (nos) paid by cash with no receipt. On the other hand neither company covered the car that was lost, because it was.. well... a car! They both stated that my automobile policy should cover it (of which I didnt have because it was under construction). They cover parts and personal property but not a vehicle. SO, if you store your car in the winter without full coverage, and again, heaven forbid there is a fire to the building and the car is lost, or even if a shelf falls over and puts a nice dent in the paint (I have heard similar stories) you may end up S.O.L. |

Re: Insurance policy w/o liability?
77Birdman, actually all you really need when storing your antique car for the winter, is Comprehensive. You don't need Full Coverage. If you can show the insurance company that the car is not stored in some storage facility bldg., that it is at your home under lock and key, they will give you a bit of a break. If you had a fire sprinkler system that is a plus, or even if a fire hydrant is close that helps. If you have PerMar or ADT or one of the protection services that is a plus too. Been thru all of this.
That will protect you. Just don't take the car out and drive it Then you would be out of luck. |

Re: Insurance policy w/o liability?
Does your insurance policy limit you to the amount of miles that you can drive your car? Daily driver vs Sunday driver?

Re: Insurance policy w/o liability?
Many companies have yrly mileage limits of say 2500 miles,
but not all bother to check the mileage you are driving. |
