Re: Brakes Bendix style
They say that they fit '37-'48 and the front shoes are 12x2

Re: Brakes Bendix style
Send a PM (Private Message) to FordBarn member "Krylon32". He sells those same backing plates (Speedway's backing plates are produced by MT Products....Speedway's drums are NOT the GOOD quality of MT drums) at a 10% discount to FordBarn folks. You can PM him directly by clicking on the link below.DD
PS....MT Products and "Boling Brothers" is synonymous. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/priva...o=newpm&u=1914 Last edited by V8COOPMAN; 01-03-2021 at 05:18 PM. |

Re: Brakes Bendix style
I put a complete set on my '46 Coupe. I got them from Mac's, but check with Boling Brothers, as there may be a price difference. BB has a good web site with info on their products You need to do a bit of grinding on the tops of the front spindles, but other than that, they fit and work well. If I recall, I had to shorten the park brake return spring, as the spring would bottom out before the lever went full travel to put the brakes on.

Re: Brakes Bendix style
Personally I am having a hard time trying to decide if I want the Bendix brakes on front . The disc brake kit from speedway looks super easy to install. I have found the adapter to change the master cylinder from three bolt to two bolt application. Just not sure if I need to change master cylinder or not? Would change rear to bendix brakes for sure.
Understand (i think) the RPV on the front and the APV on rear. |

3wmike. If you are going with the Bendix kits, the supplier will need to know the width of the brake shoes. My '46 drums are 1-3/4".

Re: Brakes Bendix style
Mike. Have a good look at the BB site, as they have some tech info and installation instructions on there. You will see in the picture of my left front shoe, what I mean by needing the shoe radius matched to the drums. I arced the shoes, and much better braking performance.

I find the third paragraph in the instruction sheet quite interesting.

Another BB spindle grinding approach. I will mail you a copy of the template, if desired.
