Default Engine Number Help

Hi All, I have recently purchase a 1930 Coupe. After scratching the paint off the engine number I read it as R 7994 UTAH there is a dot in the open spaces that my keyboard will not allow me to make. According to what I have read this is not normal! Any idea of what is going on?

State of Utah re stamped for a title. If the rest of the car is original to the frame, you would have to lift the body and look under the cowl on the drivers side for original car serial number. In 91 years who knows what is till part of the original car, chances are the motor is not.

Try “control 8” on yourckeyboard for a dot.

Hey send that engine back home to us.

Most likely an old restamp when they couldn't find a VIN. The state would do that years ago when the motor had the serial. Now they issue a special tag with a state issued serial number on it and it's attached with a somewhat hard to find rivet.

Does thr VIN number on the title match the engine number or any number somewhere on the car ? Could be a big deal if ever selling to a buyer from out of state.

Could also be a big deal if stopped by the police. Could also be a big deal in case of an accident if the insurance adjuster didn't think the wrecked car was the one they insured.
