sticking in 2 gears
In the last week my 29 coup has been sticking in 2 gears at the same time. I have been lucky and worked it out and it will shift normal for a day or so and then it sticks again. Do I need to pull the trans. to fix this?

Re: sticking in 2 gears
Its probably the shifter tower is worn out. No need to pull trans but I would stop driving it or you will need a complete rebuild of the trans...

Re: sticking in 2 gears
Quit driving it until you pull the tower off, or you can blow up the trans, I did blow up a trans that was not an "A" ( dumb teenager) :-(

Re: sticking in 2 gears
How long have you been driving this monster ? Does it seem to help by carefully shifting slowly in a deliberate H fashion ?
I'm thinking the problem also is in the transmitter top, probably the shift lever ball is too worn. Just remove the floorboards and the trans top. Do not remove the spring without knowing/learning how. |

Try doodling around with the shifter, "sometimes" they'll get straightened out. This is a fairly common thing that just HAPPENS! Usually from SLOPPY shifting. Use a distinct "H" pattern. That happened to a friend, he doodled around & got it OK. He didn't even pull the tower. Bill Hpattern Bill W.

Re: sticking in 2 gears
pulled the tower and the round ball was more like a square with rounded corners. took it apart and put the welder to it and ground the ball back to specks and put it back together( boy that spring sure is a strong one). It shifts really good now. thanks for all the help.
