Default 1934 front axle

Hey Guys,

I have a ‘34 cabriolet.

As I’ve looked at pictures of ‘34 roadsters and cabriolets it appears that some axels are wider than others.

In some pictures it looks like the hubcaps are even with the front fenders. If you took a level and held it perpendicular at the edge of the fender, the wheels on some models appear to be about 2 inches wider than others.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I’ll try to post some pics.

That is because the ones that appeared wider have a hydraulic brake conversion. The axles are all the same width.Dropped axles are available narrower.

Thanks Deuce, that makes sense.

Here are some examples. My car has the shorter axle.

My 33 has a stock axle, 40 style drums on 37 spindles, and wires with the thin spacers. It has that wide look you talk of. I did prefer it when I had the dropped axle which brought them in a little bit.

Mart.
