Transmission Cone Gear Identification

I have the original 3 speed on the column transmission that about fivery years ago shortly after I rebuilt the thing the cone gear and slide gear was damaged. I purchased (at the time) a transmission to fill the gap but since day one I noticed (I think) an ever so slight difference in gear ratios.

So I'm attempting to truly identify this cone gear as there are about 15 different ones that will fit.
I have the following tooth count 29,24,18, & 14 with the shaft approx. 1 1/8 inches.

I believe the correct number s 022A-7113A.

I'm hoping to be sure I'm correct as I need to buy one and also a slide gear with 29 teeth.

Your best startying point might be contacting Mr. VanPelt, a Fordbarner who is a transmission expert and rebuilds transmissions.

If all of the teeth are helical cut you have the correct part number for the cluster gear (cone gear as you say).

There are 3 slightly different cluster gears with the tooth count you supplied:
022A-7113-A, -B and 21C-7113. -A has a recess on one end for a thrust washer, -B uses an oblong hole thrust washer and 21C has a 1/4" band around the gear between high and 2nd gear.

There are several 1st-reverse slider gears with external 29 helix tooth count. Suggest you count the number of internal teeth. and measure the length through the hub either 1.4" or 1.28"

Van Pelt Sales has a fine book that should answer all your transmission questions or you may find the answer on their web page. He also sells good used and new gears.

28 vs 29 teeth on the cluster gear? Would I really even notice a difference driving the car??
