TopLine is the current owner of the "Johnson" lifter name. They purchased the company lock stock & barrel but I don't know if they are still manufacturing them at the same location or not.

The last set I purchased back in the 80s were solids that had set in the local to my old home town parts store for a decade or better. They always kept them in stock more for Ford tractors than for cars. Now they were stiff as hell. I can see why the folks used to drill the tappet bore casting areas to hold them. Even the new original Johnson tools would deform when trying to adjusting them. All they had were solids since most old stock Ford flatheads didn't need hollow ones. I don't think Johnson made the hollow ones very long. They were more for the hot rod crowd and the flathead racing era was pretty much over by the mid 60s except for all of us diehards.

Phil:
Just read your post about adjustable lifters. I have a ford v8-60 in a midget race car, turns very high rpm,s After adjusting all the valves I put a drop of Red LOCTITE on the adjusting screws.

Just in the process of discussing this with supplier.
Their comments along the lines of " Screw not set correctly"!
We sell thousands and nil problems.
Have advised them I will return the loose unit for their appraisal.
Will go through the process and see where it goes.
All valves were set by engine builder and again checked by myself prior to engine refitting.

"We sell thousands and nil problems."

Just your luck Phil; you're the first person to have ever experienced this!
