Kenny Waited (62) Years For This Day ...
Last September I made a special delivery to a remarkable man in Kansas.
Kenny has had an amazing Life - yesterday part of his story was told to a local news station in Wichita: https://www.ksn.com/community/vetera...-75-years-ago/ Jim

Great story Jim.
Most of us have no clue what these men.... and women went thru. All should tip our hats to these brake folk. We need the real stories of this era to be kept alive so hopefully we will never have to go thru this again. Gil. NoCal |

The $300 Model A
When Kenny returned from serving in WW2 ...
He started a family in the Wichita area. He couldn’t handle stress - he would regularly get excruciating headaches that aspirin or other medicine could not relieve. He was a Milkman - he had the first Liquor Store in Wichita open to the Public after the war. But Kenny wanted a Model A Special .... He had an opportunity to buy one for $500 but he only had $300 - so (62) years ago he bought this Model A that he still owns .... Jim |

I went to high school with the reporter that did the story, Gwyn Bevel.
That's pretty wild that you posted the link and someone from my hometown did the story. |

The Law Firm that sponsored the segment on the other hand stated incorrectly that Kenny’s carrier survived the Kamikaze Attack - the carrier sank. Jim |

Looking for 20 Years ....
So Kenny's son Grant looked for just the right Model A ....
It took him 20 years to find the 1930 Model A Roadster Special his Dad wanted so long ago ... They waited a few months until I could get to Louisiana to pick it up: I ended up spending the day when I dropped off ... Took everyone to breakfast - I drove Kenny in the Model A. Gave Heather driving lessons so she could drive Kenny around. Took a nap in their guest bedroom cause I was tuckered out. Went to a local car show with Kenny - Heather ( his caregiver ) and Heather's daughter - we had FUN ... As late afternoon came - a really nice younger couple that lived next door came over and we went for a ride in Kenny's Dream Car. As twilight fell - Heather's teenage daughter played on the grass with their little daughter while we all visited - the perfect end to a perfect day. I spent the night & Heather fixed a great breakfast in the morning. I don't get to visit Wichita much - but I will stop to visit them when I pass thru next time .... Jim |
