Default Does Your Model A/AA have a Vintage Tow Hitch?

My late 1930 CCPU came with an old tow hitch mounted on it. Even the ball has a square nut holding it on.

Does your A/AA have a vintage or period-correct hitch? Do you know where it came from or who made it?

Speaking of TOWING, Chief built a SEMI, out of a '29 Essex 4 Door. Back half cut off & powered with a Model T engine & trans & the Essex trans, behind that. He hauled COTTON, from the "bottom" lands, to the GIN, in town.
"Chief, what did you make the Fifth-Wheel from"?----"WOOD"! I didn't dare to question that further!---- He said, "It would CLIMB a WALL"!!!

Chief is a man I would have liked to have met. And spent time with.

My '31 DD had a farmer cobbled hitch on it when I got it. Pretty crude. Not anything like the one you posted. If it was like that I would have kept it. I have a pretty good idea when this one was installed because I found a receipt in a door pouch from, I think it was the ESSO station for trailer wiring in 1981 IIRC.

Gears are your friend when you only have 20 HP (on a good day!). Would probably take all day to climb that wall!
On a similar note, the father of my supervisor worked in logging around Flagstaff, AZ. He said in 1940 they had a log truck that hauled 100,000 pounds of logs, powered by a 216 Chevy 6! At 7,000 ft., that was about 70 HP. Engines only lasted a few days! Still faster and cheaper than horses!
Although I don't know why they didn't use a bigger rig! 6-71 Detroits were available.

As we went through Flagstaff, Chief stared down the road & sang, "In the Pines, in the Pines, where the Sun never shines, & you shiver when the COLD winds blow"! He NEVER sang at other times. I "wonder" what he was thinking about????
I googled for the rest of the words & it's a SAD song, about his Wifes' Passing.

While stationed at MCB 29 Palms, CA in 1966 -1968 I purchased a 1930 Model A pickup out of San Benardino and it came with a trailer hitch just like the one in the above photo. The hitch was well built and I left it on the pick up when I restored the rig.

No pic of the hitch but it is just a standard 3000 lb.receiver
type. Home made about 40 years ago.

I sold my San Bernardino 1930 pick up in 1970. No photos of the hitch were made. Sorry. Its hitch was exactly like yours and they both were probably made by the same people. The 1930 - 1931 Ford pick up is still one of my favorite model A Fords. Pictured below are two pickups that I presently own.

Its good to know that there's another same hitch out there...somewhere. Thank you SSsssteamer!

So now I realize that the hitch on my truck is not a 'Super-Duper-Mega' home-made version. I'll be removing the hitch in a few months to replace the clutch, with any luck I'll find a manufacturers name on it.

I sure wish more folks had some photos of vintage hitches on A's.
Are hitches so rare, or do folks just not want them?
What are your thoughts everyone?
