Default Book & Manual Recommendations

Long long ago (1964-1966) I owned and drove this '29 Town Sedan; sold it because I had the hots for a new Mustang, and regretted it ever since.

Today I rectified that error (sort of) with the purchase of this Tudor.

So which are the best books to order? I'm not planning a restoration, my attention span is too short anymore, but it's running now, and I'd like to keep it that way and improve the car little by little.
Thank for your help.

For basic maintenance and "how-to" stuff, I rely heavily on Les Andrews' books, "The Model A Ford Mechanics Handbook", Vols 1 and 2. Also, the Service Bulletins are pretty handy.

Good luck, and welcome back!

I'll second the Les Andrews books, and add that you should get vol 3, troubleshooting.

Service bulletins are mandatory, and the How to Restore Your Model A multi-volume set is good.

While you may not be looking to do a show car, the judging standards are a good reference.

that's the same guy in both photos ?
good for you, I suggest you get your grandkids some nice tools and a chair for yourself.
sit back and read a little.
i'm learning this with the help of less' vol 1 but it's not running. I also managed to get a hold of some mechanic course books , the real old stuff . tweed covers and flakey pages.
nothing hot rod. i've also got an eighty year old friend, retired machinist who had twenty "A"s at onetime , I hear talk on here about the twenty five dollar "A" days .
musta been fun.
library, internet, and the FordBarn daily .
I also scope out parts and prices in the slew of catalogs for what I might need but can't afford right now. so I clean up what i've got and put it back .

I feel your pain! I had a Tudor back in '62 and got the hots for a new
'63 Chrysler, so I sold everything but my sole to buy the Chrysler. I didn't
"rectify" the situation until 2006. Guess which one I still miss.

Same guy, me, 1964 or '65, and yesterday.
Some signs of old age, but I've still got the good hair

Thanks to all, I just spent $250 and I'm not quite done.
