Pete,
obviously just an agent. If you choose to use ANY broker, be sure your insurance is on the car before it moves.

Make sure the transporter is licensed and see proof of insurance. Many insurance companies will not cover your car if it is being hauled by a "for hire" carrier. The larger companies such as Intercity, Passport, etc will provide this in their contract. Some of the private haulers avoid this subject. You have spent good money on your purchase, so don't risk it by saving money on your shipping company.

That link is what you will find on every transport broker website
if you bother to look ...

If you need a car transported ....

Put the money in the car instead of someone else’s pocket.
Fly out or drive out to get it with someone - then drive it home.

If you can’t do that or it won’t make the trip - go after it yourself
with an enclosed trailer or hire someone you can talk to someone
directly on the phone that drives the truck pulling the trailer
with your vehicle in it.

That - is NOT an auto transport broker.

I carry 100K insurance.

Thank you to everyone that responded. It sounds like a crap shoot at best.
Just keep the car insured and hope it gets there without damage.

Pete, it is a crap shoot. I just had my car shipped, open transport from Virginia to Arizona. It was picked up on a Friday placed on a 9 car hauler and was in my garage by Sunday noon, two days ahead of schedule. No damage, all were very nice folks.

I used a "Broker" like most folks do. Iron Auto Transport. I actually spoke several times with the owner, Aaron and found him to be very pleasant and sincerely concerned with my request. He got the adventure hooked up with a driver and all was done on time and in a very safe professional manner. Aaron was always easy to reach and always willing to answer my questions.

Bottom line is, "pray, speak with a real person" not just a dispatcher. Peace is important. Then, throw the dice.

It worked for me....Phew! Chap

I hauled some cars in the mid 80's.That looks pretty much like the contract everybody has, with a few little exceptions. We never had any reason to care what people put in the cars,as long as it was legal. The bottom line for us was if we broke it,we had to make good for it.At the time the owner of the truck had been hauling for 11 years with no claims. Our biggest problem was the destinations. No matter how much it was drilled into the customers heads, more often than not we couldn't get the rig to their houses. It wasn't a big trailer, but it hauled six cars.I couldn't go up a lot of roads, over a lot of bridges, under a lot of bridges, wires,or trees. They would fill out the form stating all of it was suitable for a truck, but it rarely was.People would expect you to drop their non-running car in their garage, off the top tier of the trailer. Those guys needed the services of the one or two car haulers, but wanted to pay the price of the bulk haulers. The car dealers that we hauled for were great. We would find a park and ride, truck stop,or something like a Sears parking lot and call them from a phone booth. They would zip right over with a ramp truck and unload us.

Hi Paul

I will be in your neck of the woods in a few days ...

I am dropping off this 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible in Albany, NY

going to Toledo, Ohio ....

Hope all is well with you !

The last few hauls involved a rollback or another trailer to pick up and/or drop off vehicles because they had no steering/brakes/engine or the pick up and/or drop off was not accessible with my equipment or it was a race car.

I don't drive customers cars because my insurance won't allow it.

Jim: Everything here is fine. Always nice to see pics of what you've been hauling.
