Best preservative for Wood
I am going over a 1931 Cabriolet, and I believe the Front Roof Rail is from 1931.
My question - what preservative should I put on it ? Most of the Rail still has ( I guess ) it's original shellac covering it, but the ends of the Rail show age, and maybe even a slight bit of deterioration. |

Re: Best preservative for Wood
I'd recommend plain boiled linseed oil. If you do use it, be sure to properly dispose of (outside in the open air) any rags you use in applying it. Don't throw them in your shop wastebasket! They will combust.
