Y block Oil pump drive shaft
I'm kinda confused here. My uncle and I were trying to get the ol 56 tbird running today and we were having trouble getting the oil pump primed up tothe heads. Long story short the melling is-42 drive shaft appears to be too short. It's 8 inches long. Why would the standard shaft be too short?
I nok w believe I need an is-60a which is 9.1 inchs. ? I was able to make the pump work using a long apex extension which pushed oil out the oil filter hole. Also if anyone knows where I can buy a throttle linkage to attach an edelbrock 500cfm carburetor to the bell crank assembly? Mine is a bit too short. . |

The pump shaft isn't sticking out the hole.

I was trying to get a 1/4 in apex on it to try and pre pump oil through the engine before installing the distributor. I need to pull the oil pump and install the drive from below 😆 |
