What generator is this?
A friend with a 39 Ford gave this to me. He’s getting rid of extra stuff.
Also where to find info on troubleshooting ect. I have books on A’s, but nothing on flathead era generators. |

Re: What generator is this?
That's a hodgepodge of parts. The front pulley is a much later service part, possibly not even of Ford manufacture. The front bearing retainer / mounting bracket is 1940 Ford. The body is between '42 - '48. There are numbers on the body that will identify the month it (the body) was manufactured.
You didn't ask, but I might cautiously assume you'd like to know value. Not enough value to cover the shipping cost. Three months ago, I scrapped over 150 of these. Got nearly $800.

Re: What generator is this?
Not really interested in worth. Just wanted to now what it was. So is switching to an alternator becoming prevalent with flatheads.? It certainly is with model A’s. Just curious if that’s a trend.

Re: What generator is this?
Yeah, me too. However, after I'd attempted to sell them for the cost of shipping numerous times and received zero interest and, well, time to thin the proverbial herd.
I'd also scrapped 22 radiators. Same thing... zero interest in them even at no cost other than shipping.

Re: What generator is this?
I wish I could find a couple working generators and starters for my 59 AB locally. Everything I've found has had problems, generally bad fields. I keep thinking I'll try to rewind them but can't seem to find the energy to start. I hate to say it but, "if I were only a few years younger". Not that I'm old mind you.
