Speaking from experience, what cylinder heads do you have? The Offenhauser heads take a plug with a half inch thread depth, the Edlebrocks take the 3/4 inch thread plugs. Put the 3/4 inch plug where a half inch plug goes and you get to rebuild your engine after you dig all of the spark plug debris out of the cylinder walls.

I have stock heads . Checking to see if there is something better than the champion for a 36 engine.

What do you mean by “better”?
I don’t know of anything you could improve on. Mine have performed flawlessly for many moons. If they are not working for you possibly you have other issues.

I have found that "run of the mill" Champion plugs may suffer from poor quality control and manufacturing processes these days. However, I have not run into this problem with the rather specialized plugs folks like us use, and in fact, I prefer Champions in most cases. I use "L82YC" extended tip plugs in the Edmunds heads that I prefer and have found the completely satisfactory (the set currently in my '51 have been there since I installed the engine in 2016). Interestingly, all of these plugs I have purchased were made in France.

Better as in champion have suffered poor quality control and poor manufacturing processes.. I don’t have anything wrong with my engine. But of you do a search here you will see many have had an issue with champion plugs, so I asked what are the alternatives being used .

I think the Champions most folks had issues with were the recent production H10's.
