[QUOTE=DavidG;2271356]Oh, that number indicates that its engine was the 10,0xxth one built, not one that would have the engine number of 18-2xx. It's original engine would be indistinguishable from any other mid-year or late '32 engine as would be most of its other components.

I will enjoy it no matter how the numbers turn out. I was going by on line info that stated 1st car was 18-100001.

Thanks for the input! It would be easier to rack up miles if it not #184!

David may correct me, But while 18-1 was the first engine slated for a Victoria it was actually the 43rd engine produced..

Engine # 243 became 18-1 hand stamped on the transmission bell housing by Henry Ford himself on March 10, 1932. the date of Job #1 of the 1932 Ford model year. The previous 242 engines were prototypes and not deemed to be of vehicle production quality. (in practice, neither were the next several thousand V8 engines produced, judging from the recalls in April, which explains why those earliest engines seem to have an extremely low survival rate.) I've encountered less than six of them in my nearly seventy years of playing with '32 Fords.

Given that your nice Fordor is of mid-model-year production, if you wish to return its powertrain to its original state, look back in the swap meet section of this website as there was a very complete rebuilt '32 engine offered a couple of months ago at a very attractive price.

......[ I did see a chalk? number on the wood on the bottom seat cushion, 139 or 159. No idea if that has any significance. It has been repainted and reupholstered at some time in its previous life.

Just a guess, but that number, in chalk, could be the badge number of an assembly or inspector crew/ or member.
You have a wonderful car there. Sounds like it is all setup for you to enjoy without the angst of authenticity ruining your fun.
