Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
If you are going to post a question you should pick a less controversial topic like maybe the election or Ford vs Chevy.

Question serves no useful purpose in its present form. What is your question and what are you hoping to get from it? Wayne

The 31 Deluxe Rdst. I got from my dad has the double sided WW. Kind of flashy for sure but it matched my dad.

If it's never mind delete it. It is a waste of space and appears it was posted to create controversy.

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
They did exist in the Model A era (though they were double-sided in those days), so I think it's an "up to you option" if you're not going for points judging at a MARC / MAFCA sanctioned event.
Heck, there are even period photos of big trucks and tractor-trailer rigs sporting WWW tires all the way around ! I think they help increase the visibility of the car in traffic. I have always had them on my antique cars (mostly 1940's). My Special Coupe came with a set, when they're bald, I will probably go with BW, for pocket-book reasons. Unless points-judging applies to you, buy what your heart and pocket-book like. |

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
it is kinda hard to tell the color of the walls in a black and white photo, but it looks like you backed up into them when the paint was wet. Just in fun!!

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
When I was contemplating buying tires, It was 'suggested' that I buy black walls. My brother got into the conversation and thought it would be a crime to put white walls on my brown 29 Special coupe. I bought the black walls. The following year my brother went out and bought white walls for his 31 roadster. Go figure...

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
I'm debating this right now within my own head. I don't know what the "something" is about white walls, but there is "something". I think that whatever that "something" is, my Washington Blue (originally Brewster Green) roadster would not be as "flashy" without them. At events people seem to be drawn to her. [I]Maybeso I have answered my own question,FLASH! ?

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
In my opinion, blackwalls match the era of the late 20s and 30s and that fact that the Model A was a working man's car, not a rich man's car... If I had a Packard or Cadillac, sure whitewalls but for me, blackwalls match the historically better. Now to each owner their own, put the tires that fit's your tastes.

I think red lines would be the cats meow, especially on black with a red pin stripe.

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
Everybody loves them but not everyone can afford them! It's often been said that the ones that don't like them are the ones that can't afford them. Wayne

Re: White Walls (Just a question not trying to start a debate)
I think you folks are missing the question!
With the subject of White-Wall TIRES already having been discussed ad nauseum, Hoogah is doing what his wife asked him to do . . . . "O.K. boozo, if you think pink is the color we ought to paint the living room walls . . . go online and ask your Model A buddies their opinion of what the color of our living room should be. The pink that you want, or the white walls that I want !" |
