Default Ford Laboratory Test Set Parts

I Have placed a request in the Swap Meet section but would like to cover all bases.

I am looking for parts to restore my 1938 Ford (Heyer) Laboratory Test Set. I purchased this some years ago and need some pieces to get it functional again. Primarily I need the "Interrupter & Gen Control Rheostat" and its knob. I would consider buying a complete unit if in the South California area close to my shipping agent as I will have to ship it to New Zealand.

Any leads or help would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

That is really an amazing artifact! I'm sure it would also be extremely useful to guys like us.

The books above are not by Heyer or Ford. But they can be useful. Heyer operating instructions are printed on cards that are under the side cover of the machine. Ford operating instructions are in the Ford Service bulletins. Parts will be hard to find original except for the electrical gauge on the front. The Heyer machine is not as good in operation as a Sun or others. It uses a carbon pile for adjustment of RPM of the motor when the carbon heats up the adjustment changes and require constant readjustment, plus the Heyer uses car type 6V batteries and not 120Vac. You may have to use more modern replacement parts with the same original values as what you are replacing. Unless you can find someone willing to strip components from another Heyer.

GB, that machine would be useless to "guys like us" as I see in the operators manual you need to wear a suit and tie while performing the tests.

Got me a union suit. What else would a guy wear under his coveralls?, but what is a 'tie'?

Hi Terry (and others), Thanks for your replies.

Terry mentions the carbon pile adjustment above and since mine is missing that part I have no way of knowing the value of it. If I could find it's value then I could possibly find a suitable replacement, but I have yet to find a circuit diagram to be able to work out a replacement option. I do have a background in electronics so could possibly modify it if I had more information on the necessary specifications of the original carbon stack part.

Any and all input greatly appreciated

Thanks but these are in Kentucky and shipping to the west coast would be far too costly to make it worth while for me.
