Default 1953 Sunliner conversion

Has anybody here converted their convertible top from screws to hydraulic? If so how easy is it? I have a '53 that is missing the top motor cables and screws and I have been unable to source replacements so was considering this option or leaving it as a manual top. I would be interested in hearing from anybody with experience on this conversion. Thanks in advance

I have the same car you have I spent 5 yrs restoring it, I was lucky all the top parts were there and worked, if your car is 12 volts Hydro Electric in Florida sells a nice complete kit to change your car to hydraulic,a friend put one in his 53 Mercury, very nice,If you can find a late 53 or 1954 Ford or Mercury they went to hydraulic, It will work on your 53

Thanks for the info, Convertibles are not that easy to find in New Zealand as they were not sold here from new, so finding another car to donate parts is not possible I may contact Hydro Electric and see if they can supply a 6 volt pump with their kit instead a 12 volt.
