34 ford -LB- plate info

my 33 5w doesn't have one . 33 cabriolet does . It is marked 760 to the left of -LB- and 28xx to the right . It is 2.514 long x .692 wide . The repop I have here is 2.508 long x .942 wide . The bottom black area on the repop is not there on the gennie . The gennie one is nicely detailed and the repop is a strip of aluminum with a silkscreen on it . A 5w is model 770 . Not all cars had these tags . David J

As I understand, the plate is put on by body builders beside Ford. The Ford made bodies do not have the tag. I believe most of the 5-W Coupe bodies were made by Ford in 34, the Cabriolet bodies as well as the other open cars were not. The model number as well as the sequential body number for the non-Ford plant appear. This is kind of the simple answer since other numbers often appear, and the numbers are different in Canada.

'33 bodies built by Ford of Canada usually have the body number stamped into the firewall sheet metal. There's no separate body number plate nor a patent plate.

What does 'LB' stand for on these plates? Licenced Body maybe?
