Default Brakes

What's the best way to send old hubs/drums to Randy Gross?
Thanks
Dick

First, if you are not going to reuse the drums and have the tools, cut them off jsut shy of the hub. Saves weight. Botter event is if you can press the hubs out, it will save more weight. Remember to use the proper support for removing the studs.

Dick, if by “can’t” you mean you want to save the old drums” then ups I guess. If by “can’t” you meant you don’t have the tools or equipment, just go to a decent welding shop and they should be able to help you. Make sure they understand what you are wanting to do. Shouldn’t be too expensive. Let us know as I’m not far from doing this myself.

I just got my brakes back from Randy last week.
They work great !
I shipped them by UPS. It took about a week each way.
I shipped them in 4 boxes from Lowes. Each box was 16x12x12
Randy was very quick rebuilding them. Excellent work.
Shipped from WV.

I have sent many drums or hubs to Randy Gross and am very happy with the process and results.

Hopefully you have a drill press or access to one. From Ace Hardware, get an 11/16 bi-metal hole saw. It is part number 24302. Drill out the swedged part around the stud. When you have done enough of all the studs, drop the drum on a concrete floor. It may take more than one drop to separate the drums from the hubs. The drill costs about $10 and will last for 10 or more studs.

Good luck.

Call him and ask who he uses and how to pack to avoid damage.
