1929 Light Switch and Steering Wheel
I have been working on a 1929 A. This car has a 2-tooth steering box with the 1929 steering wheel. For some reason the light switch is very close to the steering wheel to the point where the light switch will turn on when the steering wheel is turned. Steering wheel and light switch are re-pop.
Anyone have an idea of what may be the cause for this? Wrong length horn rod perhaps? Thanks, Smitty |

Also make sure you have the small thin brass sleeve at the top of the column.

Is that between the light switch and the steering wheel? This car was restored and a ton of stuff wrong with it.

Re: 1929 Light Switch and Steering Wheel
Bratton's part number 5050 and it fits in the top of the steering shaft, then the horn rod fits down through it, so it's installed after the steering wheel is in place and has the nut tight.
Page 24 in the Bratton's 2014 catalog, top left of page. |

That helps a bunch. Does my 30 also have that same bushing or just 28-29? Thanks, Smitty |

Smitty,,
This "might" work, on Minerva, I made a Play-Dough dam around the light switch, filled it with 10-30 oil, let it sit for 3 days & it worked PERFECT. Chief always said, " The EASIEST way is the BEST way, IF it does the job PROPERLY" Bill W.
